Holy Cross Students Home
at Katapadi in the district of Udupi in the state of Karnataka, India is a
religious formation house of the Province of South India in the Congregation of
Holy Cross. True to the google view, the
location is picturesque with a lot of greenery and coconut plantations. Proximity to the developing little town,
parish and college has made the place desirous to reside at; specially for the
youngsters who wish to be part of the great legacy of Holy Cross. Monsoon rains
are an experience of a joyous kind and the summer too makes known her presence.
Walking up the road one is not to miss the ‘aroma’ of the fish, a delicacy
unmatched at this part of the world. In a sense, life here is truly coastal!
A band of twenty-seven young boys are residing
here during this academic year of 2016-17.
Twenty of these boys are in Second Year Pre-University studies while
seven are in the First year of Under-graduation (Degree) studies. To and fro travel to college, they do, in
packed public buses, relishing the experience of a common man. Energy and
enthusiasm are high at students’ home making life full of LIFE. Fr. Royal Nazareth csc and Fr. Jijo Sebastian
csc, the two of who are young themselves accompany this band of young
talents. Regent Raison csc, having made
his First Profession recently, is a new force to this home of Holy Cross.
Reiterating the four
pillars of Prayer, Academic, Fellowship and Apostolic zeal for seminary life as
mentioned by our Holy Father Pope Francis, the academic year was commenced on
the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on June 3, 2016. It was recalled during the day that the
“heart of formation is the formation of heart”.
The prayer resounded during the day was “Jesus, meek and humble of
heart, make my heart like that of yours.”
